Powered by SoundTouch — the same algorithm used in countless music apps — Pitch Shift keeps tempo locked while pitch moves, so a guitar riff in E can become a riff in G without losing a beat. Range is ±12 semitones (a full octave in either direction) with half-semitone precision, plus quick-pick buttons for common transpositions: ±2, ±5, ±7, ±12.

How to use

Click "Open Pitch Shift" below to launch the editor.
Drop in any audio file — MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A and FLAC are all supported.
Move the Shift slider in semitones (12 semitones = 1 octave). Use the quick-pick buttons for common values like +5 (perfect fourth) or +7 (perfect fifth).
Hit "Play preview" to hear the first 5 seconds with the new pitch — drag the slider while it plays to find the right key.
Click "Apply Pitch Shift" and download the result as WAV or MP3.

Tips

Small shifts (±1 to ±3 semitones) sound the most natural. Larger shifts can introduce artifacts, especially on vocals.
For guitar drop-tunings: -1 semitone = Eb tuning, -2 = D tuning, -3 = C# tuning, -5 = B tuning.
For vocal transposition: men’s voices typically work best within ±3 semitones; women’s vocals can stretch ±5 semitones before sounding processed.
If you want speed and pitch to change together (vinyl-style), use the Speed tool with "Change pitch" mode instead.
Combine Pitch Shift with the Speed tool (in "Keep pitch" mode) to independently control tempo and key.

Is the Pitch Shifter free?: Yes — free to use today, no signup, no watermark.
How does pitch shifting without changing tempo work?: It uses a technique called time-domain pitch-scaling — the audio is broken into short overlapping windows, and the algorithm resamples each window so its pitch changes while the overall duration stays the same. StudioWavePro uses the SoundTouch library, a battle-tested open-source implementation.
How many semitones can I shift?: Up to 12 semitones in either direction — a full octave up or down. You can go in half-semitone steps for fine tuning.
Will the audio quality drop after pitch shifting?: Small shifts (±1–3 semitones) are nearly indistinguishable from the original. Larger shifts add some softening or "phasey" artifacts, especially on vocals or piano. WAV export preserves the highest possible quality.
What’s the difference between Pitch Shift and Speed?: Pitch Shift changes the key without affecting tempo. Speed (in "Change pitch" mode) does the opposite of what you’d want here — it changes both. Speed (in "Keep pitch" mode) changes only the tempo. Use Pitch Shift when you need a different key at the same speed.
Can I auto-tune a vocal recording?: Pitch Shift moves the entire track by a fixed amount — it’s not pitch correction (auto-tune). For correcting individual notes back onto a scale, you’d need a more specialized auto-tune tool, which we plan to add in a future update.
