StudioWavePro’s Volume tool changes the loudness of an entire track by a precise decibel amount — from −30 dB (much quieter) up to +12 dB (much louder), in 0.5 dB steps. A quick rule of thumb: +6 dB sounds roughly twice as loud, −6 dB roughly half. If you push a quiet recording up hard, peaks that exceed the maximum level get clipped — for maximizing loudness safely, the Normalize tool is usually the better choice, since it raises the track as far as possible without distortion. Volume is the right tool when you want a specific amount of change, like matching one clip to another.

Tips

+6 dB is approximately "twice as loud" to the ear; −6 dB is half. Small moves of 2–3 dB are often all you need.
Boosting above 0 dB can clip the loudest peaks (audible as harsh distortion). If you just want the track "as loud as possible," use Normalize instead — it computes the safe maximum for you.
To level out a track where quiet and loud parts vary a lot, the Compressor is the better tool — Volume changes everything by the same amount.
You can apply Volume multiple times; each application stacks on the previous one and Undo steps back one change at a time.

How many dB can I boost a track?: The slider goes up to +12 dB of boost and down to −30 dB of cut, in 0.5 dB steps. +12 dB is a 4× amplitude increase — more than enough for most quiet recordings.
Will increasing the volume distort my audio?: It can. Any sample pushed past the maximum digital level gets clipped, which sounds like crackling or harshness on the loud parts. If the preview starts to sound rough, back off a few dB or use Normalize, which boosts to the loudest safe level automatically.
What is the difference between Volume and Normalize?: Volume applies the exact dB change you choose, whether or not that clips. Normalize measures the track’s loudest peak and raises the whole track so that peak hits a target level — maximum loudness with zero clipping. Can I change the volume of just one section?: This tool affects the whole track. For sections, split your file with the Audio Splitter, adjust each part, and rejoin with the Audio Merger — or use Mute Section to silence a region, or Fade for gradual changes at the edges.
Does changing volume reduce audio quality?: Lowering volume is essentially lossless. Raising it is clean as long as nothing clips — the tool processes at full floating-point precision and only the final export is encoded. Export to WAV for zero generation loss.
